Stage 1 Transport Excursion

What a fantastic excursion and magnificent weather Stage 1 had when they travelled by bus discovering and getting up close to all the forms of transport used in their community. From flight simulators and the trainee pilots at Coffs Harbour Airport to the prime movers that carry our food and other goods from Sydney to Brisbane and many other places; and finally the Coffs Harbour Railway Station where the station manager was on hand to explain how the station operates. The Country Link XPT train to Sydney was right on time!

All the students have been studying a Science and Technology unit of work related to transport and this was a wonderful way to end their learning with the students getting out into the community and seeing  the different forms of transport and their importance to so many different parts of society, not only in Coffs Harbour but nationally and internationally. How do we travel to work or school? How does our mail travel to other addresses? How do our school books arrive at the school? How would we travel to America, Europe, Africa or Asia from Australia?

Here are some videos of the big day and I think all the students and teachers slept well that night 🙂

Luke’s ‘Eggcellent’ Experiment

Luke’s eggcellent Easter experiment from Coffs Harbour PS on Vimeo.

With five minutes to go before home time Luke was able to test the padding of his Easter egg basket made from newspaper. Better luck next time Luke!

I look forward to filming class 6F and their baskets, and seeing if someone has managed to package their egg well enough so that it doesn’t break…
